Legal Malpractice Defense in Illinois
Apart from discipline, lawyers find themselves facing potentially dire consequences when opponents or former clients pursue civil remedies against them or when judges threaten contempt. These issues can also morph into disciplinary problems if they aren’t swiftly and effectively nipped in the bud. We have successfully defended lawyers in numerous legal malpractice matters in virtually every area of practice. We also have significant expertise in litigating legal fee issues involving both clients and other lawyers. Our knowledge of fee matters includes serving as Chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Committee on Professional Fees and as Faculty on the National Association of Legal Fee Analysis (NALFA). We have also represented and advised lawyers on an emergency basis in relation to motions for sanctions and contempt in both state and federal courts, as well as responded to related Rules to Show Cause before the Executive Committee of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
